Volunteer Recruitment

March 1, 2016 CCM, Flinders Program, Training Comments Off on Volunteer Recruitment

Do you have an ongoing health condition?

(such as Diabetes, Arthritis, Asthma, Auto-immune Disease, Heart Disease, Lung Disease, Parkinson’s, Cystic Fibrosis, Cancer, Pain or loss of mobility)

Do you have two hours to spare?

As a volunteer at one of our workshops, you will be interviewed by Flinders University student/s or health professional/s who work with people with ongoing health conditions. Interviews involve volunteers working with 1-3 workshop participants. You will be asked a series of questions about how you manage your health condition/s. This provides an opportunity for workshop participants to practice what they have learnt in their training. After the interview, you are invited to join a group discussion about your experience of the interview.

The Flinders University team have delivered chronic condition management education and training across Australia for many years. Volunteers regularly give feedback about how they have enjoyed this experience and have often learnt something new about their health. For the workshop participants, working with the volunteer is a highlight of their training.

Volunteers will receive a $60 voucher as reimbursement for travelling costs. Refreshments will be provided.

If you have a health condition and would like to take part in these workshops run throughout the year, please contact Natalie Heighway at Flinders University on (08) 8404 2537 or email: [email protected]
